My second PFAS Blood Test Results
I received results for my 2nd PFAS blood test. The results are not what I was hoping for. Compared to my previous test, 11 months ago, my overall values increased moderately, rather than the decrease I expected.
- NASEM Summation increased by 0.55 (+9%) to 6.76
- Three PFAS types increased significantly: PFNA, PFDA and Linear PFOA
- PFOS (linear and branched) stayed essentially the same

The 3 PFAS types that were responsible for the increase all appear in our garden soil (tested in July 2025). Since our chickens no longer have direct access to the garden soil (due to the raised coop), my leading theory is that rodents bring PFAS into the coop through their excreta.
Next steps:
- Stop consuming egg yolks for now. Only consume egg whites.
- Continue to eradicate rodents with traps and potentially fortify the coop with rodent-proof wire mesh.
- Re-test our eggs in a few different labs to keep monitoring PFAS levels
The journey continues. Onward!
